The Raw Material Assistance Scheme is a centrally sponsored initiative designed to support artisans and handloom weavers who struggle to procure quality raw materials at fair prices. By providing timely access to inputs, the scheme helps craftspeople maintain production without depending on exploitative middlemen.
Objective
The scheme aims to ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials to artisans and weavers at subsidized or market-linked rates. It reduces their financial burden and strengthens the grassroots craft economy by cutting out intermediaries.

Eligibility

Exclusions
- Applicants running mechanized or power-loom units are not eligible
- Those who have defaulted on previous government loans may be excluded
- Artisans not registered with any government body or cooperative may face restrictions
Application Process
- Visit the nearest District Industries Centre (DIC) or handloom cooperative office
- Collect and fill the application form for raw material assistance
- Submit the form along with required documents for verification
- Upon approval, raw materials are either supplied directly or a credit limit is sanctioned
- Track application status through the DIC or state handloom department portal
Documents Required
- Artisan or weaver identity card issued by government authority
- Aadhaar card
- Bank account details and passbook copy
- Membership certificate from cooperative or SHG
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Proof of craft activity (production records or invoices)
