Lemonn Launches Kill Switch for Smarter F&O Trading

Lemonn Launches Kill Switch, a new feature designed to help Futures and Options (F&O) traders stay disciplined and avoid emotional trading. With a single tap, traders can temporarily stop placing new F&O orders, helping reduce the chances of revenge trading and impulsive re-entry after losses.

Whether you’ve hit your daily loss limit or simply want to take a step back during volatile market conditions, Kill Switch gives you greater control over your trading decisions without affecting your equity investments.

What Is the Lemonn Kill Switch?

The Lemonn Kill Switch is a built-in risk management feature that allows traders to temporarily block new F&O trades.

Instead of reacting emotionally after a loss, traders can activate Kill Switch to pause trading until they are ready to return to the market.

The feature is designed to encourage disciplined trading and better risk management.

Kill Switch only applies to F&O trading

When you activate Kill Switch:

  • New F&O orders are blocked.
  • Existing F&O positions can either be closed or kept open.
  • Intraday equity trading remains unaffected.
  • Delivery investments continue as usual.
  • Margin Trading Facility (MTF) trading is not impacted.

Why Lemonn Launches Kill Switch

One losing trade often leads to another when emotions take over.

Many traders experience:

  • Revenge trading
  • Overtrading
  • Impulsive re-entry
  • Ignoring risk management rules
  • Chasing losses

By launching Kill Switch, Lemonn aims to help traders pause before making emotionally driven decisions and stick to their trading plans.

How the Lemonn Kill Switch Works

Activating Kill Switch is quick and simple.

Step 1: Open the F&O Positions screen

  • Go to the F&O tab.
  • Open Positions.
  • Tap the Settings icon.
  • Select Kill Switch.
  • Review the information screen.
  • Tap Continue.

You will then be asked to choose one of two options.

Option 1: Close All F&O Positions

If you choose Close Positions, Lemonn will:

  • Square off all open F&O positions at the current market price.
  • Cancel all pending F&O orders, including TPSL orders.

This option is suitable if you want to completely exit the market and avoid further exposure.

Option 2: Keep Existing Positions Open

If you select Keep All Positions Open:

  • Current F&O positions remain active.
  • Pending orders continue as normal.
  • No new F&O orders can be placed.

This allows traders to maintain their existing strategy while preventing fresh trades.

What Happens After Kill Switch Is Activated?

Once Kill Switch is enabled:

  • A banner appears on the Positions screen showing the feature is active.
  • You cannot create any new F&O orders.
  • Existing positions behave according to the option you selected.

You can tap the banner anytime to check the Kill Switch status.

How to Resume Trading

Whenever you’re ready to start trading again:

  1. Tap Resume Trading.
  2. Complete OTP verification on your registered mobile number.
  3. Verify the OTP sent to your registered email.

After successful verification, F&O trading resumes immediately.

This additional verification step helps reduce impulsive trading decisions.

Automatic Expiry at Midnight

If you choose not to resume trading manually, Kill Switch automatically expires at midnight.

This means you can start the next trading day without taking any additional action.

Check Kill Switch Status from the Accounts Page

Apart from the Positions screen, you can also:

  • View Kill Switch status.
  • Continue your trading pause.
  • Resume F&O trading.

All from the Accounts section of the Lemonn app.
