Overview

The Jharkhand Rajya Patrakar Swasth Bima Yojna is a state-level health insurance scheme for working journalists in Jharkhand. It covers medical expenses related to hospitalization for accredited journalists and their immediate family members.

The scheme acknowledges the financial insecurity faced by journalists, particularly those working with smaller publications or operating as freelancers without employer-provided health benefits.

Eligibility

• Accredited journalist working in Jharkhand
• Must hold a valid press accreditation card from the state government
• Working in print, television, radio, or digital media outlets
• Must meet the age criteria specified in the scheme guidelines

Exclusions

• Non-accredited journalists or freelancers without valid press credentials
• Pre-existing conditions during the applicable waiting period
• Cosmetic surgery and elective medical procedures
• Treatment undertaken outside India

Application Process

Journalists must register through the Information and Public Relations Department of Jharkhand. After credential verification, eligible journalists are enrolled and issued insurance identity cards.

For in-patient claims, the journalist must inform the insurer or TPA at the time of admission to a hospital.
