Dalit Bandhu Scheme Telangana – SC Family Support
Overview
Dalit Bandhu is a flagship welfare scheme of the Telangana government designed to economically empower Scheduled Caste (SC) families. It provides a one-time financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh per family to start or expand an income-generating business or enterprise.
Unlike a loan, this is a direct non-repayable grant, making it one of the most ambitious and significant SC economic empowerment initiatives in India. The scheme has been piloted across several districts of Telangana with strong outcomes.
Objective
The scheme aims to break the cycle of poverty and wage dependency among SC communities. By providing capital for a sustainable business, it enables families to create long-term economic independence and build household wealth across generations.

Eligibility

Exclusions
- SC families who have already received comparable government grants
- Applicants with income above the threshold limit set by the scheme
- SC families not residing in Telangana
Application Process
Beneficiaries are identified through gram sabhas and ward-level community meetings. District Collectors oversee the selection and verification process. Applications are completed with the assistance of village or ward-level officials.
Approved beneficiaries receive funds directly in their bank accounts.
