Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Loan: Rural Power
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Loan: Rural Electrification Financing
The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) is a government scheme focused on rural electrification and power supply. While primarily an infrastructure scheme, DDUGJY supports financing for agricultural pump sets, biogas plants, and solar installations in villages. These loans help rural entrepreneurs and farmers access reliable electricity for business operations. DDUGJY, launched in 2015, aims to provide electricity access to unelectrified villages and improve power supply in rural areas. The scheme combines infrastructure development with support for energy-efficient agricultural equipment.
Loan and Subsidy Details
DDUGJY offers: Rs 50,000 to Rs 5,00,000 for agricultural equipment with interest rate of 4% to 6% per annum. Subsidy is 30% to 50% of equipment cost. Repayment period is 3 to 7 years with collateral minimal for loans under Rs 1 lakh. Moratorium is 6 to 12 months. Subsidy combined with low interest makes equipment affordable for rural users.
Eligible Activities and Equipment
DDUGJY finances: Solar-powered agricultural pump sets, biogas plants for energy and manure, energy-efficient agricultural equipment, village-level power infrastructure, LED and energy-efficient lighting, agricultural processing equipment (powered), water storage and pumping systems, and renewable energy microgrids.
