Overview

The Housing, House Construction, Repair and Extension Loan Scheme is offered by the District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) in Tamil Nadu. It provides affordable home loans to cooperative bank members for building a new house, purchasing an existing home, repairing a damaged structure, or extending an existing dwelling. The scheme makes formal home financing accessible to rural and semi-urban cooperative members.

Objective

The scheme aims to help cooperative bank members meet their housing needs through affordable institutional credit. It supports safe and permanent housing for low and middle-income households by offering loan terms that are more accessible than those from commercial banks.

Eligibility

  • Satisfactory credit history with the cooperative
  • Maximum loan amount as prescribed by the DCCB norms

Exclusions

  • Non-members of cooperative societies or DCCBs in Tamil Nadu
  • Members with existing defaults on loans
  • Applications for commercial construction or non-residential property are not covered
  • Loans for already completed construction where no fresh investment is needed

Application Process

  1. Visit the nearest DCCB branch or cooperative credit society in Tamil Nadu
  2. Obtain the housing loan application form
  3. Fill in the form with property details, income information, and loan amount required
  4. Submit the form along with required documents and property papers
  5. After site inspection and verification, the loan is sanctioned and disbursed in stages
