Tea Machinery Subsidy Assam Special Incentives Scheme

Overview

This scheme provides a capital subsidy on plant and machinery for tea units producing orthodox and specialty tea in Assam. It is part of the Assam Tea Industries Special Incentives Scheme (ATISIS), which supports modernization of the tea processing industry across the state.

Objective

The goal is to reduce the cost of setting up or upgrading orthodox tea processing facilities. By subsidizing machinery, the government encourages more tea estates and factories to invest in quality production and compete in premium global markets.

Eligibility

Exclusions

• Second-hand or refurbished machinery is typically not covered
• Units producing only CTC tea are not eligible
• Gardens with unresolved statutory violations may be excluded
• Machinery purchased before the scheme notification date is not eligible

Application Process

1. Contact the Commerce and Industries Department of Assam or the ATISIS nodal office
2. Fill in the capital subsidy application form
3. Attach machinery purchase invoices and other required documents
4. Submit to the designated authority for verification
5. Approved claims receive subsidy via direct bank transfer
