Mahila Samriddhi Yojana – NSFDC Women Loan Scheme
Overview
Mahila Samriddhi Yojana is a central government scheme run by the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC). It provides micro-loans to women from Scheduled Caste communities to help them start or expand small businesses.
The scheme channels credit through State Channelizing Agencies (SCAs) and Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs) to reach women at the grassroots level.
Objective
The scheme aims to empower SC women through financial inclusion. By providing affordable micro-credit, it enables women to take up self-employment and generate sustainable income for their families.
Benefits
- Loan up to Rs. 1.40 lakh for income-generating activities
- Interest rate at 1% per annum for loans up to Rs. 25,000
- Slightly higher rates for larger amounts, still concessional
- Repayment over a comfortable tenure
- Encourages group or individual borrowing
Eligibility
- Applicant must be a woman from a Scheduled Caste family
- Age: 18 years or above
- Annual family income should be below the national poverty line or as specified
- Must have a credible self-employment plan
- Should not be a defaulter on any existing government loan
Exclusions
- Women from non-SC backgrounds are not eligible
- Families above the income ceiling do not qualify
- Loans for speculative activities are not permitted
- Applicants with prior loan defaults are excluded
Application Process
- Contact the State Channelizing Agency or an NSFDC-linked MFI in your district
- Obtain the application form for Mahila Samriddhi Yojana
- Fill the form and attach required documents
- Submit to the SCA or MFI office
- After verification, the loan is disbursed directly to the applicant
