The Overseas Educational Loan Scheme is a Karnataka state government initiative that provides concessional loans to students who wish to pursue higher education abroad. The scheme is managed through the Karnataka State Minorities Development Corporation or relevant state financial bodies.

It targets students from economically weaker and minority communities who face financial barriers to studying at foreign universities.

Eligibility

• Must be a permanent resident of Karnataka

• Must belong to an economically weaker section or minority community (depending on the implementing agency)
• Annual family income within the prescribed ceiling

Exclusions

• Students not admitted to recognized institutions abroad are not eligible
• Those whose family income exceeds the prescribed limit cannot apply
• Non-residents of Karnataka are not eligible
• Repeat applications for the same course are generally not accepted

Application Process

1. Contact the Karnataka State Minorities Development Corporation or the relevant corporation based on your category
2. Collect the overseas education loan application form
3. Fill in details of the foreign institution, course, and total cost
4. Attach required documents and submit
5. Application is reviewed and approved by the authorized committee
6. Loan is disbursed on approval
