Overview
The Indira Gandhi National Vrdhavastha Pension Yojana (IGNOAPS) is a central government scheme under NSAP, implemented in Rajasthan for elderly citizens from Below Poverty Line households. The scheme provides a monthly pension to help senior citizens meet basic living expenses in their old age.
Objective
The scheme ensures that elderly BPL citizens in Rajasthan have a reliable source of income. Many elderly poor people have no savings, pension, or family support. This scheme provides them with financial dignity and regular monetary support.
Benefits
- Monthly pension of Rs 200 for beneficiaries aged 60 to 79 years
- Monthly pension of Rs 500 for beneficiaries aged 80 years and above
- Rajasthan state government adds a top-up to increase the total pension
- Pension deposited directly to the beneficiary’s bank or post office account
- No application fees or processing charges
Eligibility
- Applicant must be 60 years of age or above
- Must belong to a Below Poverty Line household as per the state BPL list
- Must be a permanent resident of Rajasthan
- Should not be receiving pension from any other central or state scheme
Exclusions
- Senior citizens not on the BPL list
- Those already receiving pension under other central schemes
- Non-residents of Rajasthan
- Government employees who are receiving a service pension
Application Process
- Visit the local Gram Panchayat, Ward Office, or Block Development Office in Rajasthan
- Obtain and fill in the IGNOAPS application form
- Attach BPL proof, age certificate, and Aadhaar card
- Submit the application to the local authority for verification
- The state social welfare department processes and approves the application
- Pension is transferred monthly through the DBT system
