IGNDPS Sikkim | Disability Pension for BPL Persons
Overview
The Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) is a central government pension scheme under NSAP, implemented in Sikkim by the state government. It provides a monthly pension to persons with severe or multiple disabilities who belong to Below Poverty Line (BPL) households.
Objective
IGNDPS aims to provide income support to disabled persons from poor families who cannot work and have no means of livelihood. The scheme helps them live with dignity and reduces their dependence on others.
Benefits

- Sikkim state government may top up the amount

Eligibility
- Applicant must be aged 18 years or above
- Must have a disability of 80% or more as certified by a medical authority
- Should belong to a BPL household as per the state BPL list
- Must be a resident of Sikkim
Exclusions
- Persons with disability below 80% are not eligible under this scheme
- Those not listed in the BPL list are excluded
- Beneficiaries already receiving a disability pension or similar benefit under another scheme
- Non-residents of Sikkim are not eligible
Application Process
- Contact the local Gram Panchayat or District Social Welfare Office in Sikkim
- Collect and fill in the IGNDPS application form
- Submit the form along with disability certificate and BPL proof
- The application is verified by local government officials
- Approved applicants are added to the beneficiary list
- Pension is transferred monthly through DBT to the bank account
