Green Business Scheme: Loans for EVs & Solar Gadgets

Overview

The Green Business Scheme is an initiative by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. It supports individuals from marginalized communities in setting up environment-friendly income-generating businesses. The scheme provides affordable loans for purchasing battery electric vehicles, solar energy gadgets, poly houses, and other green technology-based business assets.

Objective

The scheme aims to create self-employment opportunities in the green economy for disadvantaged groups. By focusing on clean energy and sustainable agriculture solutions, it helps beneficiaries start eco-friendly businesses while also contributing to India’s climate and sustainability goals.

Eligibility

  • Individuals from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, OBC, or other marginalized communities
  • Age between 18 and 55 years
  • Annual income below the poverty line or within the limit prescribed by the scheme
  • Must have a viable green business plan
  • Should have a bank account and not be a defaulter on any government loan

Exclusions

  • Individuals who do not belong to the targeted beneficiary communities
  • Persons already engaged in a profitable business with significant assets
  • Those who have previously defaulted on government-sponsored loans
  • Applications for non-green or conventional business activities are not covered

Application Process

  1. Approach the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSCFDC) or a similar channel partner
  2. Fill in the application form with personal details and the proposed green business plan
  3. Submit documents including caste certificate, income proof, and bank details
  4. The application is reviewed and assessed by the implementing agency
  5. Loan is sanctioned and disbursed to the beneficiary’s bank account

  • Quotation from supplier for the green asset (EV, solar gadget, poly house)
