Goa Tribal Employment Generation Programme: Loans & Business

Overview

The Goa Tribal’s Employment Generation Programme Scheme is a state initiative by the Government of Goa. It provides financial assistance through loans to tribal individuals to help them set up businesses and generate employment for themselves and others.

The scheme is implemented through the Goa Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation or relevant tribal welfare departments.

Objective

The scheme aims to uplift tribal communities in Goa by providing them with the capital needed to start small businesses and enterprises. It promotes economic self-reliance and reduces unemployment among tribal populations.

Eligibility

• Must belong to a Scheduled Tribe recognized in Goa

• Should not be a defaulter of any earlier government loan scheme
• Income below the limit set by the state government

Exclusions

• Non-tribal applicants are not eligible
• Applicants who are already beneficiaries of a similar employment or loan scheme may be excluded
• Those with a poor loan repayment history with government agencies are typically not considered

Application Process

1. Visit the Tribal Welfare Department office or the relevant corporation in Goa
2. Obtain the application form and fill in the required details
3. Attach all supporting documents and submit to the concerned office
4. The application undergoes verification and scrutiny
5. Approved applicants receive the loan and can start their business
