General Term Loan for Safai Karamchari – NSKFDC

Overview

The General Term Loan (GTL) scheme is offered by the National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. It provides term loans to safai karamcharis and their dependents for income-generating activities.

The scheme reaches beneficiaries through State Channelizing Agencies (SCAs) and scheduled caste finance corporations, ensuring broad access across the country.

Objective

The GTL scheme aims to promote economic self-reliance among safai karamcharis by giving them affordable access to formal credit. It enables them to invest in small businesses or income-generating assets without depending on moneylenders or informal credit.

The scheme is a key part of NSKFDC’s mandate to uplift one of India’s most marginalized occupational communities.

Eligibility

• Safai karamchari or their dependent family members

Exclusions

• Applicants not belonging to the safai karamchari category
• Families with annual income above the prescribed ceiling
• Existing defaulters on NSKFDC or SCA loans

Application Process

Applicants must approach their respective State Channelizing Agency or the state SC/ST Finance Corporation. The application form, along with supporting documents, is submitted and assessed for eligibility.

After verification, the loan is sanctioned and disbursed through the SCA directly into the borrower’s bank account.
