The Primary Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Banks (PCARDBs) in Tamil Nadu extend loans for the purchase of fishing boats, including traditional catamarans. This scheme directly supports the livelihoods of coastal fishing communities who depend on boats for their daily catch.

Eligibility

Exclusions

• Non-fishermen or those not registered with the Fisheries Department are ineligible
• Boats intended for purposes other than fishing are not covered
• Applicants with overdue cooperative loans are excluded
• Commercial fishing companies are not eligible; the scheme targets individual fishers

Application Process

1. Visit the nearest PCARDB branch in your district
2. Register as a member if not already enrolled
3. Fill in the loan application form for boat purchase
4. Submit along with all required documents
5. The bank’s field officer may conduct a verification visit
6. Upon sanction, the loan is disbursed to purchase the boat

• Quotation or invoice for the boat from a registered supplier
