Direct Lending Scheme Punjab: Loans for SC & PwD
Overview
The Direct Lending Scheme is a Punjab state government initiative implemented through the Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation (PSCLDFC) or its equivalent welfare body. It provides direct financial assistance in the form of loans to Scheduled Caste individuals and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) to help them start or expand small businesses and become self-reliant.
Objective
The scheme is aimed at improving the economic condition of marginalized groups by giving them access to formal credit at low interest rates. It seeks to reduce dependence on informal moneylenders and create sustainable livelihoods for SC individuals and Divyangjan in Punjab.

Eligibility
- Must be a resident of Punjab
- Must belong to a Scheduled Caste community or be a Person with Disability
- Age between 18 and 55 years
- Annual family income within the limits prescribed by the scheme
- Must have a viable business plan or income-generating activity in mind
Exclusions
- Individuals from non-SC communities (unless covered under the PwD category)
- Persons who have previously availed of a similar loan from the same or another government scheme and are in default
- Those who do not meet the income eligibility criteria
- Applications from outside Punjab are not considered
Application Process
- Visit the District Social Welfare Office or the designated implementing agency in Punjab
- Obtain the application form and fill it in with accurate personal and business details
- Attach all supporting documents
- Submit the application to the concerned officer
- After field verification and approval, the loan is disbursed to the applicant’s bank account
