Overview

The Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) is a state-sponsored health insurance programme launched by the Government of Nagaland. It provides cashless medical treatment to eligible residents at empanelled hospitals within the state and at select hospitals outside Nagaland for specialized care. The scheme aims to protect families from high out-of-pocket medical expenses.

The scheme is designed to ensure that residents of Nagaland, especially those with limited financial means, can access quality healthcare without worrying about the cost. It aims to improve health outcomes by removing financial barriers to medical treatment.

Eligibility

Exclusions

  • Treatment at non-empanelled hospitals is not covered under cashless mode
  • Cosmetic procedures, dental treatment (unless accidental), and fertility treatments are generally excluded
  • Pre-existing conditions may have a waiting period as per scheme guidelines
  • Substance abuse-related treatments are not covered
  • Claims beyond the annual coverage limit are not admissible

Application Process

  1. Visit the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or District Health Office in Nagaland
  2. Fill in the enrollment form with family and identity details
  3. Submit the form along with required documents
  4. Upon verification, a health card is issued to the family
  5. Use the health card at empanelled hospitals for cashless treatment

  • Proof of residence in Nagaland
  • BPL card or income certificate (if applicable)
  • Family details and photographs
  • Ration card or household proof
