• Workers in plantations not covered under the Act are excluded
• Managerial staff may be covered under different provident fund regulations
• Workers employed on a daily casual basis may be excluded depending on tenure
• Plantations below the prescribed threshold size may not be covered

Application Process

1. Workers are enrolled automatically by the employer upon joining the tea plantation
2. The employer registers the plantation and workers with the Provident Fund authority
3. Monthly contributions are deducted from the worker’s salary and matched by the employer
4. Workers can check their PF balance and file claims through the regional PF office
5. Withdrawal or settlement claims are filed at the time of retirement or separation
