Exclusions
- Workers in plantations not covered under the Act are excluded
- Managerial staff may be covered under different provident fund regulations
- Workers employed on a daily casual basis may be excluded depending on tenure
- Plantations below the prescribed threshold size may not be covered
Application Process
- Workers are enrolled automatically by the employer upon joining the tea plantation
- The employer registers the plantation and workers with the Provident Fund authority
- Monthly contributions are deducted from the worker’s salary and matched by the employer
- Workers can check their PF balance and file claims through the regional PF office
- Withdrawal or settlement claims are filed at the time of retirement or separation
