Overview

Aponar Apon Ghar, which translates to “Your Own Home” in Assamese, is a housing loan scheme launched by the Government of Assam. It is designed to help residents of Assam finance the construction or purchase of their own homes. The scheme is implemented through designated banks and financial institutions operating in the state.

Objective

The scheme aims to make homeownership a reality for ordinary Assam residents, especially those from economically weaker backgrounds. By offering subsidized interest rates and accessible loan terms, the government intends to address the housing shortage and improve living standards across the state.

Exclusions

  • Residents who already own a pucca house are not eligible
  • Persons who have previously availed of government housing assistance under other central or state schemes
  • Commercial property purchases or non-residential construction are not covered
  • Applicants who are in default on any existing loan are excluded

Application Process

  1. Approach the designated bank branch or financial institution in your district
  2. Collect the application form or download it from the Assam government portal
  3. Fill in the form with personal, income, and property details
  4. Submit the form along with the required documents to the bank
  5. The bank processes the application and sanctions the loan after verification
