Why can KYC verification be rejected?
KYC gets rejected or held up most often because of a mismatch between the documents submitted, like the name spelling, date of birth, or address differing between PAN and Aadhaar, or between the application form and the uploaded proof. Blurry, cropped, or expired documents, an unclear photograph, or a failed In-Person Verification (IPV) video call, where the system couldn’t clearly match your face to the ID photo, are other common reasons. A PAN that’s inactive, linked incorrectly, or not linked to Aadhaar (which has been a mandatory requirement for continued PAN validity in India) can also block KYC completion entirely until resolved with the Income Tax Department. You check the specific rejection reason provided by the broker or KRA, since most platforms now specify exactly which document or detail failed verification, rather than issuing a blanket rejection with no explanation.
