Why can an F&O activation request be rejected?

Rejections usually happen because the submitted income proof doesn’t meet the specific document type or recency requirements the broker (following SEBI’s framework) needs, for example, a bank statement older than the accepted window, or a document that doesn’t clearly show the income figure or account holder’s name matching KYC records exactly. A name or detail mismatch between the income proof and your KYC-registered details is one of the most common rejection reasons. In some cases, the stated or documented income might genuinely fall below what the broker considers sufficient for F&O activation, since brokers can apply their own minimum threshold on top of SEBI’s baseline requirements. You check the exact rejection reason provided, since resubmitting the same unclear document without addressing the specific issue usually just leads to another rejection.
