What information should be included in a broker complaint?
You include your client ID or trading account number, full name and registered contact details, a clear and specific description of the issue (what happened, when, and what outcome you’re seeking), and every relevant supporting document, contract notes, screenshots of the app or transaction, email correspondence with the broker, and any reference or ticket numbers from prior interactions about the same issue. You state the exact dates and times involved wherever relevant, since vague timeframes make it harder for the broker or regulator to investigate efficiently. If money is involved, you state the specific amount and how you’ve calculated it, rather than leaving the broker to work out the figure themselves. A complaint that’s specific, factual, and backed by documentation moves faster through any formal grievance process, whether at the broker level, SEBI SCORES, or the ODR portal, than one that’s emotional or vague about what actually happened.
