How can I add technical indicators to a stock chart?

Most trading apps have an ‘Indicators’ or ‘Studies’ option directly on the chart screen, usually accessible through an icon or menu at the top or bottom of the chart interface, which opens a searchable list of available indicators like moving averages, RSI, MACD, or Bollinger Bands. After selecting an indicator, you can typically customise its parameters (like the period for a moving average, or the specific settings for RSI) before applying it to the chart. If you want the same set of indicators to appear every time you open a chart for any stock, you check whether the platform supports saving a chart template or setting a default layout, since without that, indicators may need to be re-added each time depending on the app’s behaviour. You familiarise yourself with the specific charting interface of whichever platform you’re using, since the exact menu location and naming for adding indicators varies noticeably between different trading apps.
