What is MMID?

MMID stands for Mobile Money Identifier. It’s a unique 7-digit number issued by your bank that links your mobile number with your bank account. It’s used for sending or receiving money through IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) — especially useful if you don’t have someone’s full bank account details.

  • You need MMID + mobile number to receive funds via IMPS.
  • You need MMID + mobile number + OTP/M-PIN to send funds.

How to Get Your MMID

1. Via SMS (For HDFC Bank)

  • Send: MMID <Last 4 digits of A/C>
  • To: 5676712
  • You’ll receive your MMID via SMS.

Can You Have Multiple MMIDs?

Yes. If you have multiple accounts linked to the same mobile number, your bank can issue a separate MMID for each account. This helps route funds correctly.

Using MMID to Send or Receive Money (IMPS)

  • To receive funds: Give the sender your mobile number + MMID.
  • To send funds: You need the receiver’s mobile number + MMID, and you’ll authorize using OTP or M-PIN.

Is MMID Safe?
