They compare the data you submitted with their own records and send you an <strong>intimation<\/strong> (summary result).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will say one of three things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#x2705; Your tax return is <strong>perfectly fine<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#x1F4B8; You need to <strong>pay extra tax<\/strong> (demand).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#x1F4B0; You will <strong>get a refund<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-does-the-department-check\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Does the Department Check?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The department does <strong>basic checks only<\/strong>&#x2014;no deep investigation. They look at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Math mistakes<\/strong> in your return<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mismatch in income or deductions<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a class=\"glossaryLink\"  href=\"https:\/\/lemonn.co.in\/blog\/glossary\/tds\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>TDS<\/a> details<\/strong> from <a class=\"glossaryLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lemonn.co.in\/blog\/glossary\/form-26as\/\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">Form 26AS<\/a> or AIS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wrong claims<\/strong>, like deduction limits crossed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-will-the-intimation-include\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Will the Intimation Include?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It usually has <strong>two columns<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Part A &#x2013; As Filed by You<\/th><th>Part B &#x2013; As Processed by CPC<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Your declared income, deductions, tax<\/td><td>What the tax department calculated<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This helps you easily compare what you filed vs. what they processed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"how-do-you-receive-it\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Do You Receive It?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sent via <strong>email<\/strong> and <strong>SMS<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can also be downloaded from: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.incometax.gov.in\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">incometax.gov.in<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#x1F552; Usually issued within <strong>a few months<\/strong> of filing your return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-if-you-get-a-refund\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What If You Get a Refund?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The intimation will show the refund amount.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refund is usually credited directly to your bank account.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-if-you-owe-more-tax\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What If You Owe More Tax?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You must pay the <strong>demand amount<\/strong> within the given time (typically 30 days).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can pay via Challan 280 on the income tax portal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-if-there-s-a-mistake\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What If There&#x2019;s a Mistake?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you <strong>disagree<\/strong> with the intimation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>File a rectification request<\/strong> under <strong>Section 154<\/strong> on the income tax website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or respond using the <strong>e-Proceedings<\/strong> tab if asked.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"important-points\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important Points<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It&#x2019;s <strong>not a notice<\/strong> or audit.
